GCAA Annual Conference

Ninth District Opportunity, Inc. recently attended the Georgia Community Action Association's 37th Annual Meeting and Training Conference in Savannah, Georgia. The theme of this year's conference, "Reducing Poverty, Empowering People & Improving Lives", was represented throughout the conference.

Mrs. Jodie Levin-Epstein of CLASP, the Center for Law and Social Policy, was this year's Key Note Speaker for the opening session.
A town hall meeting on the theme of "Rooting Out Poverty" was held on Thursday, July 24th with Dr. Joe Horton of the University of Georgia Fanning Institute and a panel of experts from various poverty organizations.

Mr. Don Matthis of the Community Action Partnership and Anita Lichblau of CAPLAW were honored guests of this year's event, showing support from the Community Action Network on a national level.
This year's conference was in memory of Mr. James Hudson, a GCAA board member that passed away earlier this year.
